New Gas Wells Discovered in Papua?

This was submitted by the Head of Public Relations andInstitutional Relations Executive Agency for Upstream Oil and Gas(BP Migas) Elan Biantoro in a press release receiveddetikFinance on Wednesday (16/02/2011).

"The potential for significant gas find," said Elan.

Elan said that, from drilling exploratory wells Smoke-1X with adepth of up to 4610 meters which completed testing on January 28, 2011 then, the gas flow lane to reach 100 million cubic feet perday (MMSCFD).

"This flow rate is obtained from the womb lining test (drill-stemtests) in three zones, namely the depth of 4306-4310 meters with a flow rate of 23 MMSDFD, 4253-4269 meters with 41 MMSCFD,and 4233-4243 meters with 36 MMSCFD flow rate, "Said Elan.

Then, he said, the potential of this gas is still kept under review andstill need help from other exploration activities to ensure the oil and gas reserves in the block.

"Last year, Genting has conducted two-dimensional seismicsurveys (2D) along the 1647 kilometers (km). For this year,Genting Oil also will conduct seismic surveys are three-dimensional (3D) and the drilling of four exploration wells," saidElan.
