Shell shut in Nigeria's main oil line


ABUJA. Oil company Royal Dutch Shell PLC had to shut down Nigeria's main oil channel. Bonny channel draining the oil as much as 150,000 barrels per day (bpd) was forced to shut down following a fire incident that occurred on Sunday (30/9).



Oil theft causes fire. "We have closed all the 28-inch pipe in Bomu-Bonny," the company said today (1/10).

Based on information from the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria or SPDC, Bonny Light crude oil benchmark is used to assess Nigeria oil prices more. The region accounted for 10% of total oil exports from Nigeria, Africa's biggest producer.

Finally, the oil exported from the Bonny Light in November reached 205,000 bpd in October and is targeted to increase to 229,000 bpd.
