Stocks on Wall Street ended higher in thin trade quiet. Investors are now awaiting the results of the discussion of the Greekrescue package after parliament failed to agree yesterday.
S & P index has risen by 7% during 2012 driven by better economic data than expected, as well as a good corporatefinancial statements such as Microsoft Corp and Apple Inc.
But the market is still made nervous by the development ofEuropean crisis that has so far actually show a decline in thecomplete problem. Greece is preparing a document for the reform program needed to get a bailout of 130 billion euros.
"There is a battle between the fundamental problems andimprove the macro issues of geopolitical risks in Europe," saidAndrew Goldberg, an analyst with JP Morgan Funds, as quotedby Reuters on Wednesday (02/08/2012).
"We are still awaiting the development of Greece, but at thesame time, we are encouraged to pay attention to the development hampor data are improving," he added.
In trading Tuesday (07.02.2012), the Dow Jones industrial average closed up 33.07 points (0.26%) to as low as 12878.20.The broader Standard & Poor's 500 climbed 2.72 points, thin(0.20%) to a level of 1347.05 and the Nasdaq rose 2.09 points(0.07%) to a level of 2.90408.
Operator's shares slumped after the funding of the foreign exchange market Wall Street Jpurnal reported Securities andExchange Commission are finalizing rules that stabilize themoney market mutual fund market, including allowing the value ofassets fluctuates. Shares of Federated Investors Inc. slumped3.3% to U.S. $ 18.03. Shares of Charles Schwab Corp. also fell2.8% to U.S. $ 12.34.
Trade runs quiet with transactions on the New York StockExchange, American Stock Exchange and Nasdaq amounted to only 6.48 billion shares, below the daily average of 7.84 billionshares.
